Dear CtRCS Families,
We pray that all families, especially those dealing with a lack of power and water and damages to homes, are managing the best they can. Please know that we lift you up in prayer during this difficult time.
While classes will resume on campus Monday, I ask that you please reach out to me if there is something impeding your children's secure return to school. For example, if you need uniforms or lunch provided, or are dealing with damages to your home, please do not hesitate to let me know. We will work with each family in need and excuse any absences attributed to this extreme weather event.
Regarding the condition of our school, the main building is in good condition and ready to receive students on Monday. Unfortunately the RAC did suffer some minor flooding due to a break in our fire protection line. It ran long enough to spread water throughout a good portion of the RAC to about 1/4 of an inch. We are working with both Service Master (our contracted disaster cleanup company) as well as Catholic Mutual (our insurance company) to ensure a quick and complete clean up. The RAC has already been cleared of most of the water and fans are currently being used to continue the drying process. .
The good news is that the building's floors are concrete and the gymnasium floor is a poured composite material. It is the opinion of the contractor that we can still use the building once it dries out and we get the go-head from the insurance company. However, we will continue to have the experts assess the status of the building and help us make prudent decisions upon further assessment. We are making alternate plans for this coming week for both PE and fine arts, but as of now we expect to return safely to the RAC within a week or two. I will keep you posted on the status of the RAC clean-up and our return to it.
Finally, I received word this morning that days missed this week will be forgiven by the Texas Education Agency and therefore we will not need to make them up.
Once again, our prayers go out to all in our community:
Father, Your word is trustworthy and worthy of all praise. Your word is true and Your promises are faithful. When difficulties strike fear in my heart, I know I can come to You for help. I entrust my life to you. I need not be afraid for there is nothing any mere human can do to me. When troubles come, please remind me to always trust You. When difficulties arise, teach me to continually depend on You. When the challenges ahead seem overwhelming, carry me through by Your grace. Amen.
In Christ and His Strength,
Dan Courtney
